About My book “Wild Horses…”

It’s a memoir, in which I go to Iceland every summer for a week with a group of women to ride Icelandic horses. We tolt a lot (a special Icelandic horse gait), we talk a lot, we eat a lot, and we make friends with Icelanders. It’s about midnight sun insomnia, never-too-late in life crushes, simple and delicious Icelandic cuisine, randy stallions, sagas within sagas, and personal history mixed with history of place.

It takes place at a large horse farm in northern Iceland at the edge of the Greenland Sea. For me, it’s a special, magical land. I once had a writing teacher (New School) used to say “I don’t believe in God, but I believe in Holy Places.” That about sums it up for me. The place was divine in the truest sense and it held secrets of the universe, if you believe that kind of stuff, which I have come to believe.
